Rotary is an organisation where people meet, interact, build and consolidate friendship. The Rotary pin is magic; its sight generates instant friendship. I am proud to be a Rotarian when I hear of the accomplishments of Rotary world-wide, its relentless drive to future help the needy through a multitude of programs. The most ambitious and no less challenging target of Rotary International is the eradication of the polio by the time it celebrates its centenary in 2005.

The Rotary Club of Vacoas is one of the largest clubs in Mauritius. In 1999 when I was ask to serve as President, I’m happy to say, I was so strongly supported by many dedicated Rotarians who so willingly gave away a part of their precious time to help others and promote the welfare of the unfortunate members of the community. We share a common dream. This is the predominating spirit among members of our Club.

I have a special thought here for my good friend Heman Guness who served as chairman during my year of office as President and left us all for ever recently, whose memory I will cherish for ever. My Personal experience is that serving others is not only as service but a privilege and a joy. I am a Rotarian by conviction. I find immense pleasure in helping and putting my time to the service of others.

LONG LIVE THE ROTARY CLUB OF VACOAS
