The award is named called the Heman Guness Creativity Award, in remembrance of Heman Guness, a charter member of the club who passed away at a very young age of 42 years.

The competition was open to students of Forms VI in Mauritius and Rodrigues. They were required to write an essay writing on "Ethics- based on the Four Way Test"

The winners were:
First Prize: Sandy Mariaye, Loreto College, Quatre Bornes,
Second Prize: Nejran ALLYBOKUS,
Notre Dames College
Third Prize: Neville RAMCHURRUN, Universal College.
