The Club held a second Heart Run on 22nd May, 2005. After the success of the first Heart run, the Community Servicer, under the Chairmanship of Rtn Meng How On Siong, organised a second edition of the project this year. The support of the Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund was instrumental in getting the people to participate in a large numbers. The Rotary Club of Mahebourg also participated in the Project through a busload of participants from the region of Mahebourg.


This project is especially relevant to the Mauritian society where we are today faced with one of the highest rate of heart disease in the world. The Heart Run is intended to identify early signs of heart disorders and to allow the person to take timely preventive action. Individuals identified as showing any sign of weakness during the heartrun were referred for more thorough checkup and follow up at the hospital. The project received the support of many doctors and reknown cardiologists.
