The idea to initiate this project originated from Rtn Pravind Oogarah, Pathologist, Ministry of Health & Quality of life, member at the Vacoas Club. It was ever since been supervised by PP Rtn Geerish Sonah, QS, also member of Vacoas Club.

The project caters for the following:

  1. The extension of the waiting area which is already too small for the growing number of patients visiting the hospital daily.
  2. A modern and functional Records Room.
  3. A new toilet block.

The Design for the extension and renovation works was carried out by Francois Wan Ah Fat, Architect and Mr Balraj Pem, Structural Engineer. The Architect’s Division of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, represented by Miss Alina Rodnova, has assisted in looking at the technical requirements for obtaining approval for the works.

The project cost around Rs1million and was financed to the tune of 60 percent by the Club and 40 percent by Rehm Grinaker Construction Company Limited , which assisted the Club to complete the works under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. It was completed in early 2011 and officially handed over to the Ministry of Health & Quality of Life on 30 June 2011.

On behalf of Rotary Club of Vacoas and the Radiotherapy Department, the President and members of the Rotary Club of Vacoas would wish to express their heartfelt thanks to Rehm Grinaker Construction for having ensured the successful completion of the project.
