Thinking what to write about is seldom an easy task. The problem might not be a lack of ideas, but rather a bothersome abundance of thoughts. These ideas, they keep pelting me in all directions, each one instructing me in completely different ways as to what I should do with my words. The links which will weave the strands of fabric into cloth are inexistent as yet.

My real problem today is that I haven’t the slightest idea into what cloth I wish to weave my words. I have not planned the conclusion of this piece of work. As yet, I am myself ignorant of the final message that I wish to convey.

My introduction to Rotary came at the age of three when my father joined the Rotary Club Of Vacoas chartered in 1991.

As a kid, I remember how I enjoyed accompanying my father on different occasions, particularly when the Club organized xmas parties for orphans or less fortunate children of the community. The outings to various places of interest gave me the opportunity not only to discover the country but also to appreciate it better. I found much pleasure in participating in such activities as we got to know others and make new friends, while having a better understanding of life in general.

I became a Charter member of Rotary Club of Vacoas in 1991 with the desire to serve the community. Rotary also gives you the possibility to establish close friendship with people whom otherwise you might have never met or ever known. During my years in Rotary I have had the good fortune to reap a rich harvest of some very good friends. These remains one of the greatest assets of my life.

is a word that brings fear to many a mind, heralding impending doom. To others, it presages an imminent visit from the ‘angel of death’. Funny calling it ‘angel’ when it announces such a dreadful thing as death. Mind you we all have to leave this world one day. However, it can be a frightening sight seeing someone, especially loved ones, die of this disease. Cancer is a major cause of death in the world although not as common as cardiovascular diseases.

Cancer probably derives from the Latin for crab, "cancer"-presumably because, like a crab, it adheres to any part that it seizes upon in an obstinate manner. It is the common term for all malignant neoplasms (new growths). A malignant neoplasm is one that invades the surrounding normal tissues or can spread to distant sites via the bloodstream or lymphatic system. That is, it can form metastases.

Technological developments are affecting our everyday life. The future is anybody’s guess. Let me tell you about a few inventions and products that will keep you amazed and be in your homes in a very near future.

The quest for happiness is in the very constitution of ma. That is why, from the most depraved man to the vulnerable saint, everybody consciously or unconsciously organises his whole life towards attaining that state of well being which would give him the highest feeling of self fulfillment.

In fact, trying to be happy is to attempt to live our life in such way that there is complete harmony between our thoughts, actions and deeds. And that of course presupposes the existence of a strong will. To the extent that will-power is absent or is weak, however, an individual can only be a passive victim to the vagaries of his mind and the urges of his senses. Whatever initial superficial pleasures he may be derived from giving free rein to the wavering of his mind and from indulging in his senses, before long these bring in their train manifold miseries on varying degrees.
